George Metesky

Born: 11/2/1903-5/23/1994

Crime committed: 47 charges of attempted murder; terrorism

Type of criminal: Serial bomber/terrorist

Psychological profile:

  • Male

  • Had a grudge against Con Edison (most likely a former employee)

  • Paranoid (paranoia peaks around the late 30’s so he’d be older than that)

  • Middle-aged (as explained previously)

  • Neat, meticulous, and organized

  • Overly sensitive

  • Was foreign born (they could tell this by his writing style, because he sent letters to the police)

  • Had no college education

  • Probably slavic and catholic

  • Lived in Connecticut

  • Had an oedipus complex, so he was unmarried and lived with a single sister

 

Joseph Franklin

Born: Apr. 13, 1950-11/20/13

Crimes committed: Murdered 22 people; but was charged with 7

Type of criminal: Serial killer, bank robber (for a short period of time), white supremacist

Psychological profile:

  • Had a hatred of minorities

  • Maybe mentally ill (he was found to be schizophrenic)

  • Gun fanatic

  • Most likely a part of a militant hate group (he joined the american nazi party and the klan, but didn’t like the fact that they didn’t kill)

 

Son of Sam (David Berkowitz)

Born: June 1st, 1953

Crimes committed: 6 murders, one attempted murder

Type of criminal: Serial Killer, serial arsonist (in his late teens and early 20’s)

Psychological profile:

  • Most likely jewish or italian (because he chose to kill those two types of women)

  • Loner

  • Socially inept, and would seem weird to neighbors

  • Hatred of women

  • Could have been mentally ill (in his letters he talked about a talking dog possessed by satan that told him to kill), this was proved wrong however.

  • Had experience with firearms. (They could tell this by the stance he used when committing the murders, it was the stance taught at police academies). This was found to be true, because Berkowitz was in the army.

 

David Meirhofer

Born: 6/8/1949-10/29/1974

Crimes committed: 4 murders

Type of criminal: Serial killer, child abductor

Psychological profile:

  • Young

  • White

  • Male

  • Peeping tom (or stalker)

  • Sex killer (he killed for sexual gratification)

  • He had killed previously, and had probably been arrested before (most likely for a minor offense)

  • He kept souvenirs from his kills (which he did in the form of severed body parts)
